Licensure

Licensure The Indiana Teaching Fellows program at UIndy offers a Master of Arts in Teaching degree with the following licensure options:

  • Mathematics
Any mathematics course in middle school/junior high; any course in a mathematics department in a high school
  • Life Science
Any science course in middle school/junior high; any course in the life sciences in high school
  • Chemistry
Any science course in middle school/junior high; any course in chemistry or integrated chemistry/physics in high school

Because of Indiana’s rigorous licensure program, a teaching license earned in Indiana is reciprocal in 44 other states, giving you flexibility to teach in virtually any state in the country after your three-year Fellowship requirement is complete. But we’d like you to stay in Indiana. With roughly one-third of current Indiana teachers set to retire within the next five years, and with many schools desperately needing secondary math and science teachers, the demand for qualified licensed teachers is high.
