The National Association for Alternative Certification (NAAC) is the only National Association that caters for the needs of career changers entering and graduating from alternative Teacher Preparation Programs such as Troops to Teachers, Transition to Teaching, New Teacher, Master of Science in Teaching and Master of Arts in Teaching Programs. The NAAC advocates standards-driven alternative routes to teacher certification/licensure and promotes research-based and innovative professional development by exchanging information on best practices, funding and sharing research, providing networking opportunities and awarding scholarships to enhance preK-12 student achievement.
All Master of Arts and Transition to Teaching candidates are encouraged to join the association so that they can share and benefit from the experiences of fellow career changers nationwide. For NAAC membership information, please contact:

The NAAC works with the Department of Education and National Center for Alternative Certification (NCAC) to provide resources and scholarships to teachers who have received licensing through alternative certification. Please visit the NCAC website
The NAAC also works with the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC) to provide reciprocity information for teachers who may move from one state to another during their teaching career. Please visit the NASDTEC website.
