iLEAD Principal Preparation Program
The Master of Arts in Educational Leadership equips new school leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to confront the complex realities of today’s schools. iLEAD (Inspiring Leadership in Education through Application and Dialogue) is a cohort program that offers candidates:
- A rigorous mix of practice and experience in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school leadership;
- A profound understanding of schooling issues and the ability to develop compelling communities of practice;
- The tools necessary to engage stakeholders in decisive discussion and dialogue about the fundamental challenges confronting today’s schools;
- Strategies to create powerful and enduring communities of learning;
- Vital conversation and inquiry to deepen reflection and understanding; and
- A variety of field-based experiences to integrate theory and practice.
The iLEAD Program prepares candidates by utilizing:
- Field experiences to immerse candidates into the practice of school administration;
- Problem-based, action-oriented activities designed to apply theory into action;
- Mentors who currently or formerly served as effective school administrators;
- Clinical faculty who are experts in current practice;
- Online resources and discussion that extend learning beyond the classroom; and
- Continuous reflective and interactive dialogue within and among networks of cohorts.
