Indiana State Reading Association (ISRA)

The Indiana State Reading Association, an affiliate of the International Reading Association, has a new home at the University of Indianapolis. With more than 80,000 international members, the IRA is a non-profit, global network of individuals and institutions committed to worldwide literacy. State organizations, like the ISRA, support education professionals with resources, advocacy, volunteerism, and professional development activities. Indiana has 32 local councils with more than 7,000 members. The annual state conference in March brings nationally-recognized authors to Indianapolis, as well as sessions featuring practicing professionals from around Indiana who share their expertise. Donna Stephenson, of the Department of Teacher Education at the University of Indianapolis, will serve as the organization's first Executive Director. She can be reached for more information at dstephenson@uindy.edu or (317) 788-4917.
