After two decades as a classroom teacher in the Metropolitan School District of Decatur Township, Susan Strube decided to take her career to the next level. Last year, while completing the iLEAD principal preparation program at UIndy, she was one of just three people chosen statewide to receive the Indiana Principal Leadership Association’s Aspiring Principal Scholarship, which includes a cash award as well as further education and networking opportunities. Now she is an instructional coach for other teachers at West Newton Elementary School, and she hopes to become a principal and extend her impact on the children she serves.
“Everything that I’m now able to do, I owe it to the experiences I had in the iLEAD program,” Strube says. “It’s given me a background that will enable me to follow my dreams.”
